This guide is aimed at everyone who wants to complete an i-Kfz procedure online in Baden-Württemberg – including the specifics and responsibilities for Baden-Württemberg.

After moving, the keeper's new address must be recorded in the registration certificate. If the plate is retained, this change of address can be done online – without an appointment at the registration office. You need a valid ID card or passport with the new address as well as registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document).

Change of address or transfer?
If you move within the same registration district or keep your plate, a simple change of address is sufficient: only the new address is recorded in the vehicle documents.
If a new plate is assigned in the course of the move, this counts as a transfer. This is also possible online but additionally requires registration certificate part II (vehicle title).

For the digital change of address, have ready:
- Valid ID card or passport with the new, updated address
- Registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)
What happens to the vehicle registration document?
After completion you receive an updated registration certificate part I with the new address by post. Until it arrives you may continue to use the vehicle without restriction.
Important: update the address on your ID card at the citizens' registration office first, as the address recorded there is used for the entry.

- 1Update your ID card. Have the new address entered on your ID card at the citizens' registration office first.
- 2Start the “change of address” procedure. Select the change of address online and enter the vehicle data.
- 3Confirm your identity. Identify yourself with your ID card or passport – the new address is adopted automatically.
- 4Submit the registration document. Submit the details from registration certificate part I.
- 5Pay the fee & complete. Complete the procedure. You will receive the updated document by post.
